CHICAGO — One of coach Avery Johnson’s primary goals for Dirk Nowitzki this season is stronger leadership. A minor incident Friday night may have given Johnson delightfully more than he dreamed of getting.

In the third quarter, Nowitzki and Devin Harris had a disagreement about a defensive assignment on the court and began arguing.

When the discussion continued longer than Johnson wanted, he pulled both players to the sideline and gave them a brief lecture.
