Nowitzki hopes success leads to extra busy year

"There are a lot of goals coming up."

At this time next season, Dirk Nowitzki hopes to be tired and burned out. He hopes that Mark Cuban, the Mavericks' owner, will be ranting and raving about the evils of international basketball. Physical and mental exhaustion would be delightful.

If he gets his wish, Nowitzki will be dragging, but he will be thrilled because it will mean the Mavs have won a title, Germany will have played in the Olympics, and Nowitzki will have accomplished every goal in his basketball career.

'It's always been a dream of mine to go to the Olympics,' Nowitzki said. 'I understand that if [the Mavs] make it to the championship, [Germany plays] right away in July. And then if we make the Olympics, we go all the way into August. Read more
