Mavs fall back on a veteran

"As a player, you like to play. It gives you more opportunities out there to do what you do.... We're all in great condition, so it should be no problem."

When Jason Terry entered the NBA in 1999, one of his teammates in Atlanta was 6-foot-1, 180-pound Bimbo Coles, a veteran of nine season who went on to have a 13-year career.

'One of the first things he told me,' Terry said, 'is that if you're going to last in this league, you've got to learn how to fall. There's a technique you have to use when you land.'

Terry was explaining the procedure before the game in Memphis on Monday when Dirk Nowitzki interrupted.
