Nowitzki big help for Howard

DALLAS -- Dirk Nowitzki was the last guy on the court Sunday morning before the Mavericks took off for a two-game trip to New York and Toronto.

Dallas assistant coach Joe Prunty was rebounding as Nowitzki worked on his 3-point shooting, his 15-footers and free throws. He showed no sign of leaving when trainer Casey Smith came out on a landing one floor above the practice floor and said: 'Gym closes in two minutes.'

'Says who?' Nowitzki said.

'Avery.'

'Avery who?'
