By this summer of 2007, Jerry Stackhouse was supposed to be injured and disgruntled and the unhappiest man on the Mavericks' bench.

Just you wait, the critics in Washington told us. Stackhouse's productive days in the NBA were roundly said to be done.

And now here he is, poised to re-sign a Mavericks contract.
